The temporary number system has evolved over a 20-year period by our buyers with the simple intent on keeping sale entry and buying as fair as possible. And remember, no one, including Ellie Palmer Associates may pre-buy or reserve items prior to a sale.

So here's how it works...

The first buyer to arrive at the sale hands out temporary numbers on a piece of paper to those arriving later. Once a temporary number has been received, you must remain on-site at the sale until an Ellie Palmer Associate arrives and replaces the temporary numbers with permanent ones. (This generally occurs about 1 to 1.5 hours before sale opening time.) With permanent number in hand you may leave the sale site for breakfast etc. and return for the sale opening which is 10:00 a.m. sharp unless otherwise noted.

The average sale usually takes about 40 minutes to process those with numbers. It can take longer depending on "the sale."

Once all have entered by number, entry is without a number and you may come and go as you please.

When will first person arrive at sale?

Wish we could answer that, but we truly never know. It depends on buyers and the type of sale. We have drawn buyers 48 hours in advance but this is certainly not the norm.
