What is an estate sale?

An estate sale is an event we define as public sale of household goods and personal property. Each item is tagged or labeled, then priced. Most often it occurs in our clients’ homes but occasionally we conduct sales inside barns or other outbuildings. Typically, the duration is one day to four days, most commonly though, it is two days.

I want to do an estate sale. What’s the next step?

It starts with contacting us through your preferred method of communication – phone, email, text or in person – some people love to stop in at a sale. From there, we can setup a no-obligation appointment to walk through your home physically or virtually. Together we can determine the best scenario to achieve your goals.

What's involved with having an estate sale?

Each family and project is unique. We employ a proven and successful methodology which we continue to tweak & finesse for constant improvement, with our clients’ needs & goals driving the process. It starts with a discussion of timing and partnering with your realtor if appropriate. From there we discuss items to be retained by family and items to be sold. The home and contents are prepared for the sale all the while promoting and advertising. Prior to sale opening, we encourage our clients to walk through and review presentation and pricing. Throughout the sale, we will keep you apprised of the event through phone calls, text or emails. And after the sale, we encourage you to walk through again and together we plan for next steps of any remaining items.

What geographical areas do you serve?

We primarily serve the Greater Rochester area including Monroe, Wayne & Ontario counties. And on occasion we find ourselves in Livingston, Yates and Steuben counties too. Please don’t hesitate though to contact us if you find yourself out of these counties; we’re always happy to share ideas.

Are estate sales conducted year-round?

Positively, yes! In fact, if you’re thinking our western New York winters are just for skiing, think again. We’ve had some of our most successful sales in the winter months.

Are sales conducted only on weekends?

The days and times of a sale depend a great deal on details such as location, time of year, items being sold, and very importantly the timeline requirements of family and/or real estate contract.

How will I know what sold and for how much?

We believe that trusted accounting is as important as the setup and sale itself. Upon completion of the sale, a financial summary is provided and customer receipts are available as well. We pride ourselves in presenting details of the sale in an easy-to-read and understandable format.

Do you have references from previous clients?

We do, and would be happy to share their successful stories with you.
